About Lonebear
When Hank Alexander (Lonebear) was given his first camera at 13, it was the beginning of a life long interest in photography. For over 40 years, he has kept this interest as both a hobby and a vocation. With photographic experience as varied as multi-media production, special effects and teaching, he has become a technically skilled photographer. However, the beauty of his images relies not only on this expertise, but on his unique vision of our world.
As the son of an artist and wood craftsman, he came to appreciate the form and beauty in the things that most people seldom notice. The quiet majesty of a southern swamp, the alien world of the sea, or an eighty year old sink -- these are just a few of the themes he chooses to explore and capture with his camera. Lonebear's images of the soft unfolding of a newly blossomed flower have been compared to the great artist, Georgia O'Keefe. His photographs of balloons are the vibrant colors of dreams and fantasies.Hank is also a talented commercial photographer. He brings his slightly different view point to the celebrations of life: weddings, newborns, family portaits and other special events.
